Hiking Club

Hiking Club

Hiking Club is offered by Ms. Bradshaw and Mrs. Miranda.

The purpose of the After-School Hiking Club is to provide students with opportunities to engage in outdoor recreation, develop physical fitness, and foster an appreciation for nature and environmental stewardship. Through guided hikes, students will gain confidence, resilience, and a greater understanding of local natural environments.

The After-School Hiking Club will meet during the months of September and October and again during April and May, taking advantage of favorable weather conditions and adhering to Avimor’s trail closures from November to April. The club will provide students with safe, structured outdoor experiences on local trails.

To provide students with a variety of outdoor experiences, meeting locations will alternate between selected trails. The first meeting will be held in the classroom and centered around trail safety. Hikes will be planned to match student ability levels and seasonal conditions while maintaining a duration of approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Students will meet and be picked up in front of the school by the flag pole.

Students will be supervised by school staff and approved volunteers. Staff will carry first aid supplies and emergency contact list. All participants will be expected to follow school behavior expectations and established hiking safety guidelines. Students will be charged a registration fee of $15 via MySchoolBucks to cover any supplies needed this year. Registration will open on Friday, September 4 on MySchoolBucks.
